Eye Camp

For the 8 years, KIRF has been organizing mobile eye camps in District Murmur, Sudhnoti, Poonch and Bagh. Sight related problems are very common amongst the general population, especially in the rural areas. Specialist services are scant and scarce. Cognizant of the need, this void was met by organizing the Eye Camps in various parts of Azad Kashmir in collaboration with other related organizations and with assistance of Pakistan based hospital facilities.

KIRF continues its collaboration with NGO partner Fezan Welfare Organization, Mandi Bahudin, for the provision of eye care services. Under this arrangement it held four free Eye Camps at various locations of district Bagh, Poonch, Sudnoti and Mirpur.

Using state of the art diagnostic and surgical technique, the visiting eye surgeons and their teams addressed the sight problems of the people attending the camps. KIRF has so far organized 18 such eye camps in AJK benefiting about 37,300 eye patients including 1,406 receiving surgical services.

KIRF, as the host organization, widely disseminated the programme and the procedures for registration. It also arranged facilities and provided all the logistic support. Monetizing the service, using the current market rates for of such services as yardstick, the total benefit of this activity to the people was equivalent to Pakistani Rs. 4.81m. However, the benefit in terms of life changing results, produced by KIRF services to the people has a value beyond measurement.
